Yes, Nintendo has finally listened and is allowing same-sex marriage, but only for two units and only one per version without the third route DLC. These new kinds of marriage supports will be known as A+ Support.
The characters that the Avatar can marry are the ex-thief Zero (Male and from Nohr) and the child character of Shara (Female, Tharja from Awakening’s clone, and from Hoshido). I’ve read the same-sex supports for these and not only are they non-offensive and portray these characters in a good way, but they are the cutest supports that I’ve ever seen.

For those who are annoyed at the one character per version and if you want the other one you need to buy the other game, please know this. Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Japan, as well as in many other parts of the world. Nintendo has to take something like this slowly and carefully, because they cannot take the risk of angering large protest groups or governments, which could cause the game to have higher censorship, have this feature removed for the rest of the world, or to have its release possibly canceled for certain countries. This is a huge step, and they didn’t even have to do this. Please understand and accept their choice, this was most likely the best they could do at the time without the censorship team coming down or having the rating go up even more than it already has. Again, they didn’t have to allow this into the game, but they did it because of the fans.
There is also a rumor that other characters have A+ support options that are not with the Avatar, most notably Camilla’s subordinates, but I cannot confirm if this is true, as the image that I had seen might of been fake. I am also unable to find it again as it was only in the Fire Emblem If tag section of Tumblr.
